This past weekend was much-needed. The kids were out of school for a teacher thing so we packed up and headed to the mountains. It was absolutely beautiful. The fall leaves and all the different colors were breathtaking. We stopped first in Eureka Springs to visit the Christ of the Ozarks and also the Thorncrown Chapel (This would be where Ben & Jessa got engaged if you watched 19 Kids & Counting before the scandal). I highly recommend at least visiting these just once. They are beautiful pieces of architecture that is art at its best. We also made a little pit stop by the Crescent Hotel. Absolutely cool architecture again but I am always terrified to take pictures just in case some blob thing appears. This girl doesn’t do creepy, being scared or anything spooky really. So after that pit stop we headed on north to Branson, MO. I just love Branson. There is a little something for everyone; shopping, great food, shows, and tons of amusements parks. We typically stay at the Grand Country Inn & Resort. If you have kids I highly recommend it. We try to hit up one of the specials they offer and get our room for 2 nights, a free meal, a round of mini golf, tickets to 2 shows and access to the indoor water park all for one great price. We did a little shopping and some good eating then spent the full day on Saturday at Silver Dollar City. I must say I had never been before and I fell in love. It was so much fun despite being a tad bit chilly. It was the grand opening for the Christmas festivities and it was PACKED! I mean wall to wall people at times. Now I’m not normally a ride type of person. I like to watch others ride the rides but don’t typically ride them myself. Remember above where I said I don’t like to be scared. Well most adult rides these days do one of two things…1. Go high (Fear of falling) or 2. Go fast (Not really scared of speed just falling out I guess). So what’s the first ride my husband somehow persuades me on…The Powder Keg… yep if you know this ride at all then you know both those two things I just mentions above are what the ride is all about. If you don’t know what this ride is then just click here. So after seeing my life flash before my eyes…literally we moved on to some rides for the kids; the swings and the pirate ship. Again neither two are pleasurable and fun to me but the things you do for your children. Nerves shot and completely exhausted after several more rides and indulging in yummy food we stayed to see the awesome LED Christmas light parade and headed out. We packed up on Sunday to head back but not before more yummy food at Lambert’s…Hot Rolls! How many of you ducked reading that or threw your hands up? If you sit by us duck because Hayden’s first go at catching a roll got the lady behind us smacked right in the back of the head! Yep that’s why we play basketball and not baseball. He redeemed himself though. Any who we made it back just in time to start another week. It was a good time away and a good time to spend out in God’s beautiful masterpiece. Now back to the grind. Blessings!
